FOUNTAS & PINNELL BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS Grades K-6

•    Administered:  Two or three times per year – school-based decision; final guided reading level for report card  
assessed with this instrument for the 2008-2009 school year.
•    Screening, Progress Monitoring, Diagnostic, Outcome measures
•    Data used to inform instruction in Guided Reading Groups
•    Determines INSTRUCTIONAL READING LEVELS

•    Teachers should conduct a minimum of one running record per student per month

Running Records from Guided Reading Books:

1. Make a copy of the page from the book

2. Put an acetate sheet in the book and make marks on sheet, then take to a copy machine after so you have consistent markings
