An
Overview of The Graph Club
The Graph Club is a hands-on
graphing tool which allows students to manipulate data and read and interprret
graphs. Students can collect information, organize information, create
a graph, compare types of graphs and communicate information. The Graph
Club was designed for grades K-4; however, the program has potential at
upper elementary levels. The Graph Club installs easily on the computer
and does not require the use of the disk. It's recommended that you look
through the teachers guide before introducing the program to your students.
The Graph Club has
four modes: Explore, Match, Create, and Guess.
- Explore mode shows
two graphs. Students have use of all the functions of The Graph Club.
This mode also allows for simultaneously viewing two different graphs.
(This mode is recommended for first time users.)
- Create Mode - Students
input data into a table and then make a graph to view the data in different
ways. (This is a good starting point for experienced users and upper
elementary students.)
- Match Mode- Students
are shown a graph generated by the computer and are asked to create
another graph to match the existing one.
- Guess Mode - Students
are challenged to hypothesize about what the data on a computer-generated
graph could represent.
