JSD Elementary Film Festival
The 2009 JSD Elementary Film Festival will be held May 14, 2009, at Heartland Elementary.  All elementary schools in the District are invited to participate. Introductory meetings will be Oct. 7 from 4:15-5:15 p.m. at Heartland Elementary, 1451 W. 7000 South, and Oct. 9 from 4:15-7:15 p.m. at the Auxiliary Services Building, 9150 S. 500 West. More information can be found at http://schools.jordandistrict.org/filmfestival/2009 or by contacting Kelly Dumont.

Brief Introduction to the Engaged Classroom
I covered what The Engaged Classroom means in our district and showed the video from or wiki page.  Please check out our wiki page for information.  www.theengagedclassroom.wikispaces.com

T4 Site

Covered Web Mail on our Jordan District site
If you have a problem getting into your email from your computer, go on the web and use web mail.

UEN.org
Emedia   (free videos for educators)
Soundzabound  (free music for educators)

Rain Forest Math
There was a question as to why this site was closed until next year.  The CLA from Columbia Elementary did share the email that she had received from the owner of the site. Because of permission issues and organizations illegally stealing activities from the site, the site is unavailable until the owner has time to regroup and decisions are made so that the site is protected.

Wordle
We looked at a program that creates word clouds.  There were a couple of troubleshooting items that was learned during the training.
*If you need to go back to typing your words for the word cloud and you do not want to retype again, hit the refresh button and you will be taken to your word box to add to it.
*You can print your wordle from the internet site or save it as a PDF.
*There was a word of caution to be careful when you have the kids on the homepage of wordle.
