Real World...Reel Stories!
The 2008 Jordan School District Elementary Film Festival will be held on April 24, 2008There will be no orientation meeting this year. There will be a video posted here by Sept. 20th giving all of the vital information pertaining to the film festival. We are trying to make it easier for those who want to get involved to get the information. We will send notice to all schools when the video is up.
The theme for the 2008 Film Festival is Real World...Reel Stories!
The theme is meant for students to explore the real world applications and connections of what they are learning in school. How does what they are learning in school apply to what is going on in the world today.

We are changing the categories up just a bit this year. The categories for this year will be as follows:

Rules and Entry Information
Rules
- Films are to be created entirely by students. That means writte, filmed, and edited completely by students.
- For JSD schools you may enter up to 5 films, however no more than two of those films can be entered for the same category. Foreign Film entrants can submit no more than 2 entries from a school.
- COPYRIGHT: Copyright laws must be observed. Any commercial/copyrighted music, images, or video used in any film will automatically eliminate that film from award consideration. Any media that is not created by the students should be cited in the film's credits.
- Screening for entered films will be online this year prior to the festival. Films will be available online beginning on March 1, 2008 (or anytime after that date as we receive entries). Information release forms for each student involved must be submitted as part of the film's entry.
- In order to be considered for the podcast category, students must have at least 5 published episodes. Students may only select one episode for consideration. Newscasts will be considered as podcasts, but must adhere to the 5 minute time limit.
- The time limit for all films/podcasts is 5 minutes, except for the PSA category which is 1 minute.
- Films need to be submitted on DV Tape or on CD/DVD as QuickTime movies at the highest quality possible.
Entries
We are once again
encouraging schools to hold their own film festivals to determine the
entries sent from their school. All entries must be submitted on DV
Tapes or on CDs or DVDs as Quicktime movies. All entries must be accompanied by an entry
form. All entries from a school can be on one tape/disk, but each entry must have its own entry form. In addition, for each entry
submitted, there must be an accompanying student release form for each
student involved in the film. We have to have the releases to be able
to put the films on the web site and all of the submitted films this year will be on the website.
