Microsoft Word in the Classroom

Microsoft Word is a basic word processing program for both Macs and PCs. This class will introduce you to the basic components of this versatile program and will focus on teacher and student creation of projects that will tie in directly with Utah Core Curriculum. We will also briefly touch upon classroom uses of Excel and PowerPoint, the other components of Microsoft Office. Software is presented in a context of strategies for effective educational application.

Class Expectations

  • Attend all classes
  • Complete the activities each week
  • Complete one of the following for use in your classroom that supports the State Core Curriculum:
Poster | Newsletter | Brochure | Another activity based on models and examples from Word Workshop for Teachers
  • Submit a reflective paper evaluating the instructional strategies you employed when you used your Microsoft Office project in your classroom and what you.learned from the experience as a whole.
  • Submit a lesson plan showing how you would teach or use a Microsoft Word activity in the classroom.
