Using Graphic Organizers is a common way to help students generate visual representations of what they are learning.

 

Inspiration is an easy-to-use program that allows users to create webs, organizers, and semantic maps. The following files were created in Inspiration. Select the pdf option to print the organizer. Select the file option to download the organizer and use in Inspiration.

Advanced Organizer. This organizer asks students to categorize a collection of words.
Cause and Effect Pattern. This text structure links reasons with results. It is characterized by an interaction between at least two ideas or events, one taking an action and another resulting from that action.
Comparison/Contrast Pattern. This text structure demonstrates the apparent likeness and differences between two or more things, ideas, or topics.
Concept Word Map. This graphic organizer is a vocabulary activity.
Descriptive Pattern. This text structure gives more information about a topic by attributes, examples, or elaboration.
Listing pattern. This text structure is characterized by a listing of facts, events, procedures, steps, or ideas. The order of the items is not significant.
Making Bigger Words. This graphic organizer is a vocabulary activity.
Problem-Solution Pattern. This text structure is created by an interaction of two or more factors, one citing a problem and another providing a potential answer to that problem.
Sequence pattern. This text structure relates the order of events, ideas, steps or stages; shows how a set of topics is bound together on the basic of commonality.
Word Map. This graphic organizer is a vocabulary activity.
Word Questioning. The text is written where the author asks the question and immediately answers.
Words in Context. This graphic organizer is a vocabulary activity.
